Why you Should Wear Sunglasses in the Winter

Sunglasses in the Winter

The first sign of summer sun stirs up excitement for us all, a new wardrobe, summer holidays and of course a new pair of sunglasses. Well, it is important to keep up with the fashion trends of the season and stay looking stylish. But why wait for summer?

There are plenty of reasons to don your statement shades in the winter too, and with so many brands offering cheap glasses online who could resist a pair for every season?

Still unsure about wearing sunglasses in the winter? Don’t be! Here are the reasons that make it ok:

To Protect Your Eyes Against UV Rays

Winter is one of the most important times to wear sunglasses. You could be exposed to a double dose of UV rays, especially if your are in the snow. Wearing a pair of sunglasses with UV protection will save your eyes from the sun’s damaging rays and keep health complications at bay.

Long term exposure to the sun’s UV rays can contribute to cataracts and also put the skin around the eye area under risk of cancer. Wear a good pair of wrap around sunglasses with large lenses, not only to protect your cornea but your skin too.

To Save Your Eyes from the Elements

Sunglasses act as a good barrier from the elements, particularly snow, sun, rain and the wind. We have already talked about the sun’s UV rays and the damage they can do which is always at the forefront of our minds in the summer.

When in the snow the glare bouncing from the crisp whiteness means that your eyes get hit by the UV rays twice, so a good pair of sunglasses is essential for winter holidays and sports.

Wearing sunglasses to protect your eyes from the wind helps keep your eyes moist and comfortable. Glasses will also prevent debris, including sand and dust, from getting into your eyes and scratching your cornea. They will keep your contact lenses nicely in place too.

Driving can be dangerous in the winter too. Surface water and ice can cause a reflective glare. Car light beams can be quite blinding, bouncing off of wet road surfaces too. A pair of good quality sunglass can seriously reduce the glare and make driving conditions much safer.

To Reduce Headaches from Eyestrain

In very bright conditions our pupils struggle to prevent too much light getting into our eyes, so we squint to give them a helping hand. As we all know, squinting can cause headaches and eyestrain. The amount of light reaching the eye can be reduced dramatically by a good pair of sunglasses, banishing the side effects of headaches caused by fatigue. Don’t forget, if you regularly wear spectacles, make sure you have a pair of prescription sunglasses standing by!

To Promote Healing and Recovery

Sunglasses are essential for the safe healing of the eyes after any corrective surgery. Adjust to your new level of vision in a stylish pair of sunglasses to make sure you make a speedy, successful recovery.

Because Sunglasses are Stylish

There is, of course, the same reason we love wearing our shades in the summer…because they are stylish.

Sunglasses come in many different styles, colours and shapes so there is a pair that will suit everyone. Why not have a few different pairs to vary your fashion statement or to match an activity. The availability of so many cheap glasses online makes it easy and affordable.

There are the reasons why you should wear sunglasses in the winter!

Not only will you be protecting yourself against health risks, but you will look stylish too. From classically cool to ultra modern there is definitely a pair that will make you look and feel great, and you will enjoy the outdoors much more too.
